Brisbane Wedding Hair & Makeup

Questions to ask when making that first phone call or email about hair and makeup for your Wedding?

You may have downloaded our “Insiders tips” from the front of our website, for where to start.  So let us help you with a few more tips that may help you choose your perfect Wedding day professionals.

When you start with a new project at work or in your home life, starting is sometimes the most overwhelming part and then once you start you then realise there is so much more you need to know and plan.

Choosing your artists for your special day is about their hair and makeup skills but also you want to ensure that you have an artist around you that fit in, and genuinely love being around Weddings.

Ask about the team and artists experience.

One of the first things I personally when looking at booking a new service, go the website or Facebook page and try and find out more about the team.

Check out our page here.

Emails seem so much easier as we are all so busy, but a phone call to an organisation can help you get a feel for that business, if you leave a message, how long they take to get back to you, and what processes they in place to help you feel secure in who you are booking, at The Powder Room we book “Cupcake Consultations” by appointment for you to come and chat to one of our friendly coordinators.

Will the same artist that you meet at your trial be the same as the Wedding day?

Even though artist/s can be trained in a smiler way, we are all creatives and individual, that’s what it’s important to have your trial with the same artist/s that will be looking after you on the day. You also have discussed all your Wedding details with theses artist/s.

Do they have a Guarantee or Promise?

What happens if you have your trial and it’s not exactly as you imaged it?  In choosing the company that looks after you, ask them what happens if you aren’t happy at the trial. Having a Promise or guarantee in place show that the company has a policy in place to give you peace of mind.

The Powder Room has a Promise and sends out “Pre Trial” emails to prepare you and a “Post trial” email to encourage your feedback.

Should you pay for your Wedding day hair & makeup trial?

A Pre Wedding trial with The Powder Room takes double the time to that of the Wedding day, and we charge the same as the Wedding day.  Hair trials take 2 hours and makeup trials 1.5 hours, heaps of time so that you can love your look. Any artists that value what they do will charge you for a trial but spend the time with you so that you feel 100% happy :)

So who do you choose for the day?

It’s such a special day and you do want it all to be perfect, so it can be challenging to make that decision as to who is right for you…go with who your feel if right to you, as in the end you can look at all the prices, pictures of styles and talk to friends and family for recommendations, guarantee's, time they have been in business but in the end who do you connect with?

Checklist of what to consider before sending that initial email, or making the first phone call..

When I sit and have consultations with our Brides I ask first of all what is some of the questions they have so I can make sure I cover their queries.  Primarily I find that its about timing for the day, cost per person understanding about airbrush application vs traditional application and if our team members will spoil our Brides and be apart of the same excitement and not rush off to another job.  Other key concerns are really about ideas, and will we help.

Here are some questions you may like to ask and what to consider..

How do they answer the phone, do they seem approachable and open?

Wedding Hair and Makeup Top Tips
  • Do they want to listen to you and you ideas/queries/concerns?
  • Pricing obviously is a few factor, but how do you know if they are worth the $’s. Usually, it is a combination of the service + experience + ambience + qualifications + time been in industry +extras to create the experience + word of mouth from other Brides and Wedding suppliers.
  • Do they have any substitute artists if your artist is ill?
  • How long have they been in business?
  • What happens if you aren’t happy at the trial? Do they have a Guarantee or Promise?
  • Where is the trial done at your home or at the companies studio?  Sometimes a studio can have more quality control e.g. managers etc.
  • What brand of products do they use...and do the artists offer “Traditional hand applied foundation” as well as “Airbrushing”?
  • What happens during the process? Do they want to know anything about you before the trial, as this can help if anyone has allergies etc?
  • Is there Travel or Parking costs?
  • What are all the costs?…. Early morning fees..Public holiday fees, what happens if you cancel?
  • Do they email you the terms and conditions upon booking?
  • What are the methods of payment?

Happy Planning girls and remember we are here to help and just a phone call or email away.
